EAFAE 2005 General Assembly

The East Asia Forum for Adult Education (EAFAE) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and is pleased to announce the convening of its 6th General Assembly from November 19th to November 23rd at Hosei University (20th) and the National Olympic Memorial Youth Center (21st~22nd).The main theme of this assembly is “Lifelong Learning/Education Policy and Career Design/Human Resource Development.

The aims of the Assembly are to:

  • Examine the implications and impact of lifelong learning/education policies in both Japan and East Asian countries and communities.
  • Share the challenges and success stories of collaboration amongst the departments of Education, Labour and Welfare, the business community and nonprofit organization (NPO) in promoting lifelong learning.
  • Examine the notions of “Career Design (CD)” and Human Resource Development (HRD) in the context of lifelong leaning/education.
  • Create a conducing environment for EAFAE members to discuss strategies and action plans to be implemented in the next Assembly.
  • Raise awareness of the issues pertaining to the dynamics of participation, facilitation of adult learning and provision of lifelong learning for community development
  • Provide a platform for members of EAFAE to share their research findings on issues pertaining to lifelong learning, community development and learning organizations
  • Allow both local/international and EAFAE participants to acquire a comparative perspective on the challenges facing lifelong learners.
  • Provide the opportunity for the EAFAE members to interact with policy makers and the individuals from locals to voice their concerns on implementing lifelong learning initiatives and the pursuit of such activities respectively.
  • Raise concerns on the impact of lifelong learning on the career development in an increasingly globalised world.
